United States May Prohibit Keeping Killer Whales In Captivity

The reason for the discussion was the release of the documentary film "Black fin" about catching the killer whales and killing of a coach by one of them in Florida. This happened in the aquarium downtown Orlando. Today 57 whales are kept in 14 marine parks in eight countries, 25 of them live in the reserves of Florida, California and Texas. According to representatives of the authorities, it is completely unacceptable to keep in captivity these freedom-loving animals. For example, one of the killer whale named Lolita has been living for in a small aquarium in Miami oceanarium, that frightens both animal activists and state government.

Owners of aquariums and marine parks are against it, which is not surprising. They believe that the opportunity to see killer whales in real life allows to convince ordinary citizens in the need to preserve them. So, professionals will be able to raise funds for research and measures aimed at conservation of these animals. The solution of this problem should be solved in the near future by voting.
