Underwater Robot Used for Photo Shooting at Rio Olympics

11.08.2016

Photographers of water sports at the Olympics have no longer to get wet, or to try to catch the participants in the frame. Now the underwater robotic platform with the remote control is responsible for the quality of pictures.

The device is equipped with a camera Canon 1D X Mark II, which is in a waterproof container. The robot performs all the commands of the photographer: rotates and tilts the camera, changes the shooting mode, pushes the trigger.

For the filming of diving, swimming and synchronized swimming underwater cameras at the bottom of the pool were previously used, but they were static. Remotely pressing the trigger, you had to catch the moment when the athlete passed every time. The new platform will allow to get photos from the different angles and will greatly facilitate the work of photographers.
