Scientists Discovered Evidence of Water on Ceres

Data from the Dawn probe, allowed NASA experts to conclude about the existence of water in the surface layer of Ceres, the smallest of all the dwarf planets of the Solar system.

Scientists Discovered Evidence of Water on Ceres

This fact was indicated by the low density of Ceres (2.16 grams per cubic centimeter) and the presence of a large number of minerals containing fragments of water molecules, and traces of H2O vapor in the atmosphere. However, only infrared studies of the crater Oxo in the framework of the Dawn mission, were finally able to confirm the hypothesis of planetary scientists. Scientists say that water on the surface of Ceres can exist in the form of ice and hydrated minerals.
