Saint Petersburg to Repeat Fate of Atlantis

World Wildlife Fund experts estimated that St. Petersburg is in danger of being completely flooded in hundred years. Part of Leningrad region and the Yamal Peninsula are also at risk. The reason is the accelerated pace of global warming on the territory of Russia. Ural climatologists speak about the same. According to their calculations, the global temperature in the XX century has increased by one degree Celsius, and Russian temperature increased by as much as much as two degrees.

However, not all experts agree with these conclusions. A group of Russian scientists argue that residents of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region shouldn't fear of the flood. Of course, in the next hundred years, the level of water in the oceans will rise, but only by 30 cm.
