The Slims River in the North-West of Canada has disappeared from the face of the Earth during the year. The reason is the movement of the glacier. This phenomenon is unique to our time.

The fact that the river is completely dry was possible to find out due to satellite images. Specialists of the Illinois University in the course of the study have found that the glacier Kaskavulsh, from which the river started, had moved to the south for 1.5 km. As a result, the water began to flow not to the north, as before, but, on the contrary, in the direction of the Pacific Ocean. In 2016, the river became very shallow in just four days, and soon there was no trace left of it. Since Slims was not used for water supply, the local population did not suffer - in contrast to the ecosystem.

Millions of years ago, such dramatic changes in the appearance of our planet were commonplace, scientists say, but in the modern world such a case was fixed for the first time.
