Intensive algae blooming started in the Gulf of Mexico, which caused death to many marine animals. Red algae «Karenia brevis», which emit dangerous toxine while blooming do not have mercy on anybody – neither turtles, nor sharks or manatees. Besides, they threaten millions of financial losses for Florida touristic industry. This problem appears annually near the Gulf coast, but this year it is almost a catastrophy.

In 2005 algae-killer blooming led to a death of a coral reef, and a year ago their toxines poisoned marine plants, which caused death of 276 manatees. Years of research and do not give positive results and effective means of fighting against «Karenia brevis» has not yet been found.
