New Kind of River Dolphins Found in Brasil

Last time this new kind of water mammals were described by scientists in 1918, so this is a sensation. Unknown kind of dolphins inhabit Brasil Araguaia river basin. The most peculiar thing is that aboriginal people watch these dolphins regularly. New kind is named Inis Araguaiaensis, this is a distant descendant of river dolphins who lived in Amazon river basin 2 million years ago.

Araguaian dolphin has 24 teeth, when others have got only 25 or 29. Newly discovered kind is going to be put in the Red book. Human influence makes the number of these animals decrease faster and faster. Now there is about 1 thousand heads of Araguaian dolphins, but this number decreases quickly.
