Amendments will be made to the current federal law "On the Protection of Lake Baikal." They also prescribe to carry out forest restoration within a year after cutting down.

As explained by the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Sergei Donskoy, over 100 thousand hectares of forest in Buryatia almost completely burned: "burnt forests - the source of the forest pests spread and, in fact, a condition for the emergence and lightning spread of fires."

According to Donskoy, the main task of the department is to prevent abuses in such logging. Implement them will be possible only after the surveys, the results of which will pass a public examination.
