In Udmurtia Ducks Died from Oil Spill

As a result of oil leakage in Udmurtia, Russia, seven wild ducks were killed. The specialists of the Ministry of natural resources found in the woodland on the site of emergency a small "lake" of oil.

The source of contamination was a metal structure, similar to a canned oil well. At its base, there was a "pool" with a depth of 70 cm and dimensions of 10 to 20 meters, filled with oil, which also impregnates the surrounding soil.

On the fact of damage to the environment, the Investigative Department of the Udmurtia TFR is conducting a check. Samples of the substance and soil, as well as the bodies of ducks were sent for examination. The issue of initiating a criminal case under art. 247 of the Criminal Code (violation of the rules for the circulation of environmentally hazardous substances and waste) is now being decided.
