Ice Whirlpool Spotted in Labrador Sea

The same whirlpool was seen by a pilot on a transtlantic flight. From 11 km height the whirlpool resembled of tornado, but then it became clear that is had been formed not by clouds, but by ice.

Whirlpool forms when ice is transported by sea currents in case if water is cold enough so that ice doesn't melt. Whirlpool diameter can reach several hundred meters.
