Heavy rains in Egypt have eroded the limestone hills, as a result, the water in the Nile grew turbid and turned brown. Several water stations will be closed until the river clears.
Experts assessed the situation as catastrophic and recommend to local residents not to drink water from the tap. In some areas there are already problems with the regular supply of drinking water.
For the 92 million inhabitants of the country Nile is the only source of water for domestic purposes and for agriculture.
