Great Future Predicted to Marine Wind Energy

01.11.2016

In the next 15 years, the production of energy through wind turbines placed in the sea, can grow from 13 to 100 gigawatts and its value will decline on average by 57%. This forecast is given by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

Great Future Predicted to Marine Wind Energy

The rapid development of this industry will contribute to the new technologies, such as floating turbines and the increased wind generator blades.

Ground-based wind turbines now allow to get cheaper energy than traditional methods. Further marine wind energy farms will play a significant role in the global economy and reduce its dependence on hydrocarbons, experts say. Now marine wind energy is widely used in the Nordic countries. The first farm producing megawatts of energy, was established in 1991 in Denmark.
