Specialists of the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy of the Siberian Branch of the RAS came to the conclusion that in the next 20 million years Lake Baikal will turn into an ocean, and the Eurasia continent will split into two parts. According to scientists, the split of the earth's crust in the Baikal rift zone is constantly increasing both in depth and in width.
