Dutch to Build Roads from Debris Floating in Ocean

The Dutch company KWS Infra intends to implement the world's first project of road construction from recycled plastic. Unusual and environmentally friendly roads will appear in Rotterdam in the near future. Local authorities have supported this initiative.

According to the developers, plastic roads are more durable than regular asphalt, in addition, they are easier to lay (construction takes weeks, not months) and to repair if necessary. And they will cost cheaper. The main part of the plastic production is planned to receive from the waste caught in the ocean – there's much of this kind of garbage. It is known that plastic causes death of marine life and serious damage to ecosystems.
