Scientists from the University of Chicago (USA) recently discovered, that dolphins have the longest social memory of all animals and, probably, exceed even humans. The most intelligent marine mammals remember ultrasonic callsigns of their comrades for at least twenty years or even for entire life! Scientists came to this conclusion by watching several aged dolphins at Brookfield Zoo in Chicago.

The most intelligent marine mammals remember ultrasonic callsigns of their comrades for at least twenty years or even for entire life!

Earlier these dolphins communicated with several dozen of their relatives, some of which are no longer alive and the rest of them live in hundreds of kilometers away at Dolphin Quest dolphinarium in Bermuda . Experts found the "calls" of those dolphins and played a record of their clicks and whistles to the "oldies" from Chicago. Older animals swam to the speakers and showed an obvious interest in the sources of sound, even if the records were made about twenty years ago.
