Beavers Cause Flood on the Road in Leningrad Region

Several kilometers of the local highway, Zagolodno – Budogoshch to the south of St. Petersburg, Russia, were flooded due to a rather unusual reason. Beavers built a "dam" in the storm sewer of the road, blocking the drainage. It resulted in flooding and erosion of the blacktop.

Comically, this situation is both good and bad: it's good there are beavers, but the flooding... Oh well.

However, local environmental experts are really happy, since these rodents are considered natural indicators of eco-sustainability. Unfortunately, no positive emotions were ever spotted on the faces of the traffic services, working hard to fix the roads. Three safe ways to the settlements under the influence of the beaver dam are already recommended by the traffic police.
