Austria’s sacred spring water is dangerous for health

Scientists from the Institute of Hygiene and Applied Immunology at the University of Vienna examined water samples from 18 springs in Vienna churches and 21 springs from all over the country. The results were disappointing: this water isn’t suitable for drinking. The samples were taken from the drinking fountains, wells, springs, brooks and geysers on the territories of churches. This water is popular among the faithful, who strongly believe in its safety.

However, this is not so. In the country the water is polluted with nitrates and other agricultural fertilizers. And in popular churches it swarms with pathogenic bacteria. Formerly such water really was the cleanest and saftiest, especially for the citizens, but today it’s better to drink water from the tap, because it run through multistage purification.
