Scientists from Seoul National University have developed a new method for determining water quality. The device acts like human nose and allows to reveal the presence of bacteria even at the lowest concentrations - less than 10 ng per liter.

Artificial Nose to Search for Bacteria in Water

Bionic nose can be used for research in all water bodies, and you don't need to send samples to a special lab and wait for results. The invention can be used not only to control the quality of drinking water, but also in the fight against eutrophication.

In the future it is planned to improve the technology so that the «nose» could distinguish the smell of explosives or drugs.
