Arctic Ocean Will Get Rid of Ice in 20 Years

Арктика на лето скинет льдыIn a couple of decades the Arctic Ocean would be free of long-term ice shield. If it happens, ships would cross the north pole waters without ice-breakers.

The Arctic Ocean would be covered with ice only during winters, scientists from Cambridge University assume, basing on data gathered in expedition in the Sea of Beaufort.

According to this research, almost all ice shied on the 450 km way of the ship was one year old. Previous expeditions revealed perennial ice shield. Researchers believe that these changes are irreversible.
