Arctic Ocean is Increasingly Reminiscent of Atlantic

An international group of climate scientists has determined that due to the record-high rate of ice loss, the Arctic Ocean looks like the Atlantic Ocean. The results of this conversion will affect the entire ecosystem.

Arctic Ocean is Increasingly Reminiscent of Atlantic

In the Eurasian basin of the Arctic Ocean the same vertical mixing of water as in the Atlantic is already happening. Experts note that we are talking about the state of the weakened stratification: the thinner the ice, the more stirring the water.

These findings were made by scientists on the basis of data obtained from satellites in 2013-2015, as well as from buoys located in the Atlantic Ocean.
