Alaska’s fisherman caught the world's largest perch

04.07.2013

The perch caught by Alaska’s fisherman is about two hundred years old. Perch, 104 cm long, weights 17 kg. Yhe luckyman to hook the fish was Henry Liebman, insurance manager. First he wasn’t sure in breaking a record, because the perch was caught not far from the shore (about 10 miles) and not in deep water (about 270 m).

Previous record-perch was caught at age 205 years, but the size of it was much less. Age of Liebman’s fish is not yet specified, but perhaps it will also be a record. Alaska’s ichthyologists are now working on details, but the perch will definetly be placed in the Guiness book.
