Underwater Tablet and Big Names of Supercomputers

Waterproof Rupad for police and army, computer working on water and supercomputer «Lobachevsky» which can forecast floods – we collected all the Russian inventions which pretend to provide gadget amateurs from Russia with patriotic feeling.

Submarine-tablet. Science and research institute of economics and management systems (Moscow) released the first line of water and dustproof Android-based tablets. It is reported that the gadget is a bit thicker than iPad, it has a dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. There also 2 cameras 0.3 and 5 Mp, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE, GSM. Operating system is Russian, though based on Android.

It is called RoMos and is has an antivirus program and secure access to the Internet. It is promised that the tablet will work under water, in the heat up tp +55 C and after falling from 2 meters height. There are 2 models released: one for mass market and another one for military and special services. Besides, the gadget has a button which turns off the capability to data transmission.

Famous supercomputer. Supercomputer «Lobachevsky» is released in Nizhny Novgorod. According to the city University, this is one the most powerful computers of nowadays.  It is called in honor of prominent mathematitian of the 19th century Nikolay Lobachevsky. This supercomputer will make large-scale mathematic countings for different scientific disciplines from mathematics to medicine and ecology.

«Lobachevsky» is the second powerful supercomputer in Russia after «Lomonosov» which is situated in Moscow State University. Both machines are ones of 100 best supercomputers of the world.

Cooling with water. South-Ural State University is going to improve supercomputer «SKIF-Aurora YouUrGU», created 4 years ago, to make it more powerful and able to work on cold and hot water. It is a system of liquid cooling of the machine.

According to some data, half of the energy consumed by supercomputers goes for cooling it by air.
